Telehealth
At New England Cancer Specialists, we are committed to making cancer care as accessible, convenient, and patient-centered as possible. One way we do this is through telehealth—secure virtual visits with our established patients from the comfort of their home.
Why Telehealth?
Cancer care can involve frequent appointments with many different specialists. Telehealth offers an option for patients who may:
- Have difficulty traveling to the office
- Feel more comfortable at home during treatment
- Want to reduce time away from work or family
- Live in more remote areas of Maine or New Hampshire
Through a simple phone, tablet, or computer connection, patients can meet with their oncologist, advanced practice provider, nurse navigator, or supportive care team.
What Types of Visits Can Be Done Virtually?
- Follow-up Appointments: Routine check-ins after treatment or between therapies
- Symptom Management: Discussion of side effects, medications, and supportive care
- Genetic Counseling: Family history reviews and genetic testing consultations
- Care Planning: Treatment reviews, second opinions, or discussions of next steps
- Survivorship Visits: Wellness planning and long-term follow-up after treatment
Our telehealth services are carefully integrated with in-person care. Your care team will always let you know when an in-person visit or testing is necessary.
How It Works
- Schedule Your Visit: Call your care team to see if a telehealth appointment is right for you.
- Prepare Your Device: You’ll receive easy instructions to connect to your secure video visit.
- Meet with Your Team: Discuss your care, ask questions, and make a plan—just like an in-person appointment.
- Next Steps: Your team will coordinate any follow-up appointments, prescriptions, or lab tests.
A Commitment to Connection
Even in a virtual setting, we believe in building strong relationships with our patients. Our providers use telehealth to listen closely, answer your questions, and ensure you feel supported every step of the way.
